The new conquest of Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari:
the creation of some of the most luxurious wines made with legendary grapes of Columbia Valley in Washington.
Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari will produce wine in Washington a san Italian element of the joint-ventures for the Long Shadow operation of Allen Shoup, pioneer and leader of the USA wine and viticulture market. Shoup has carried out partnerships with some of the best talented wine makers from all over the world, such as Michel Rolland, Randy Dunn, Philippe Melka and John Duval. Shoup’s is a very ambitious aim: the creation of world first-rate wines that can show the excellence of the viticulture of Columbia Valley, of the State of Washington.
This new enterprise is called “Long Shadows Vintners” referring to a group of people who have been successful all over the world of oenological entrepreneurship thanks to their wines and wineries. Now they are going to analyze the soils to check their main characteristics, examining rows on the sides of the hills of Columbia Valley by an expert eye. They are like artists that are choosing the range of colours and dyes for their pictures, selecting vineyards and then clusters that will become must and then wine under the magic of expert hands. Some wine makers are working using the most famous red wines – Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Syrah, others using the precious white wines of this region – Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauvignon Balnc, and Semillon.
The group “Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari Tenute” has been founded in 2000 after a division of their family. Ambrogio and Giovanni come from a family of entrepreneurs that since 1800 has been successfully working in the vine and wine sector. This group is managing 7 agricultural companies in Tuscany, and one on the Oriental Hills in Friuli region: “Ronco dei Folo” and a partnership of the 50 per cent in the company “Monte Rosso” in Franciacorta. In Tuscany the estates “Cabreo” and “Nozzole” are in Chianti Classico area; “Gracciano Svetoni” in Montepulciano; “Conti Spalletti” in Rufina; “Campo al Mare” in Bolgheri and “La Fuga”, where they produce a high quality Brunello, in Montalcino.
Now they have also the Columbia Valley amongst their projects.
