The territory

Montepulciano, located between the Chiana Valley and the Val d’Orcia, has been an area suited to the cultivation of quality Sangiovese for over 300 years. In 1685, Francesco Redi, poet, doctor and naturalist, declared in his dithyramb “Bacchus in Tuscany”: Montepulciano is the King of all wines

Grapes

The Sangiovese Grosso variety grown in the Montepulciano area is also called Prugnolo Gentile. The bunch is medium-small, winged and compact characterised by a large grape with a resistant skin. All the appellation of Montepulciano are obtained from this vine, wines with a pale ruby red colour which, according to the vinification and aging method, are fresher or suitable for long aging.
