Syrah e Merlot, the new blend of the Baby Super Tuscan variety

A powerful match of harmonies

A new wine joins the Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute Baby Super Tuscan variety: Syrah and Merlot, a blend of 60% Syrah and 40% Merlot grapes. The fourth proposal of “fruit-wine” that marks the entry of a new vine variety in the Winery offer: Syrah. The Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari winery wanted to explore the potential of this grape on its Vigne a Porrona estate, located in Maremma.

Thanks to the warm and sunny weather the vineyards of Porrona enhance the characteristic descriptors of this vine, thus giving a grape with powerful aromas. In this wine, the Syrah grape offers creativity, originality and also its typical spiced hints of black pepper, therefore it is softly and roundly harmonised by the Merlot grape through a sensory path for a scented and enchanting wine characterised by a strong ruby colour and purplish reflections. Roberto Potentini, oenologist of the Tenute Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari winery, describes this new wine as follows: “The choice of Syrah as a vine was the natural evolution of the project and found in the Merlot vine a synergy of great youth and power, in the full respect of the Baby Super Tuscans wines, which are great and good immediately.” The BST variety starts from the two classic versions, a typical and smooth blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for traditionalist tasters, and a Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot blend in which the sensory accelerator is pushed by more intrusive harmonies in order to achieve a further transformation of the fruity hints today represented by the Syrah e Merlot wine.In addition, a pure Sauvignon wine that expresses all its sensory brilliance and luminosity in an easy and fresh wine to taste. Three red wines and a white wine that enclose the Tuscan tradition interpreting it in an innovative way.
