The Wine

Tuscan Pinot noir. In the highest vineyards of Casa di Sala Estate in Panzano in Chianti, Ambrogio
and Giovanni Folonari have been growing Pinot Nero grapes since the mid-1980s. Here Black was born, in a pedo- climatic environment particularly suited to the cultivation of this vine in name of the Chianti area.

The 2024 vintage in Panzano in Chianti has proven to be a year of great potential. The grapes, beautifully healthy and concentrated, gave us a harvest of extraordinary density and technical precision.

Production area: Casa di Sala vineyards, located on the hills of Panzano in Chianti
Altitude: about 450 a.s.l
Soil composition: medium-textured clay, very rich in skeleton
Training system: low spur-pruned cordon

The Grapes

Grape variety: Pinot Noir
Planting pattern: 5,000 plants per hectare

In the winery

Vinification: fermentation in stainless steel and maceration for approximately 4 weeks
Aging: 17 months in barrique, before refining in the bottle
Alcohol content: 14.5%

Le Tenute del Cabreo

Purchased by Nino Folonari, Giovanni’s grandfather, in 1967, the Zano estate covers about 60 hectares, 45 of which are planted with Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and the other ones are woods or rural settlements.
